In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, Türkiye is set to launch an innovative Deposit Management System.
Starting soon, consumers will be able to return single-use beverage containers, such as bottles and cans, to designated recycling machines and receive a deposit of 25 kuruş per item.
This initiative, aimed at drastically reducing waste and encouraging recycling, will see the accrued deposits stored in an electronic wallet managed by Türkiye Emlak Katılım Bankası.
Participants can use these funds for shopping, thereby integrating recycling seamlessly into daily life. The system is expected to be operational nationwide by 2025, with an ambitious goal of recycling approximately 20 billion containers each year.
